Storm Water Pump Station To Be Added at The Point

The Town is planning to add a new fixed storm water pump station at the corner of Island Circle and Coast Guard Road in The Point neighborhood later this year.  The new storm water pump station will help to relieve chronic storm water flooding in this area after significant rainfall events, and will be designed to draw both storm water and groundwater.

The new pump station will be similar to the Town's previous storm water pump stations installed in Deer Horn Dunes, Sea Dunes, and Spinnakers Reach.  These pump stations have worked very well in previous storm water flooding events, and we expect the new pump station at Island Circle to provide meaningful relief in this area in the future.

The Town will initially construct the new fixed pump station with a special connection for temporary hose.  The temporary hose will be connected as-needed and the discharge will be directed to acceptable locations available at that time.  The Town intends to eventually connect the new pump station to the Emerald Isle Woods discharge site in the future as funds become available to construct a fixed pipe line.

The new pump station is being funded by capital reserve funds currently available in the Town's budget and specifically earmarked for storm water improvements.
