A new picnic shelter has been constructed at the Emerald Isle Public Boating Access, and will be dedicated in memory of former Town Commissioner Gordon McAdams on Sunday, June 3 at 2 pm.  The public is invited to attend.

Commissioner McAdams served on the Board of Commissioners from 1989 to 1999, including 3 terms as Mayor Pro-Tem.  Commissioner McAdams was an avid fisherman, and would be proud of the new public boating access area.  Commissioner McAdams passed away suddenly in 2003 at the age of 42.

Contributions made in Commissioner McAdams' honor funded the materials for the new picnic shelter, and volunteer labor was provided by the Crystal Coast Woodworkers under the direction of Emerald Isle resident Howard Pinner.
