MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
BETWEEN THE EMERALD ISLE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
AND THE PLANNING BOARD
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2002 – 9:30 A.M. – TOWN HALL
Present for the meeting were: Mayor
Arthur Schools, Commissioners Richard Eckhardt, Dorothy “Doje” Marks, Pat
McElraft, Floyd Messer, Emily Farmer, Town Manager Frank Rush, Town Clerk
Carolyn Custy, Planning Board Members Frank Erwin, Art Daniel, Ed Dowling and
Pat Patteson. Planning Board Member
Anne Erikson arrived at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Rush updated the board on the flooding at the Community Center.
A water main broke and flooded the weight room, aerobics room, cleaning
room, one office and the gym. Municipal
Risk Management Services has been notified and they will send out an adjuster.
The Community Center will probably be closed for the rest of this week.
Mr. Hugh Geiger expressed concerns about some of the changes made to the
Dunes and Vegetation Ordinance one of which was the 3” diameter issue with
trees.
In addition to the tree issue other areas discussed in length by the
Planning Board and Town Board were the definition of “dune”, septic systems,
repair areas, filling, vegetation and clarification of parts of the ordinance.
The Dunes and Vegetation Ordinance went back to the Planning Board
Sub-Committee for more work.
A meeting was set by the Planning Board Sub-Committee for Monday, October
8 at 9:00 A.M. at Town Hall to again review the Dunes and Vegetation Ordinance
and possibly make changes before it is presented to the Planning Board and then
the Town Board for approval.
A meeting will be held for public comment and input between the October
Planning Board Meeting and the November Town Board meeting.
This date is to be announced at a later date.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 P.M.
