Water Access & Parks

Emerald Isle's public accesses and parks have a wealth of amenities.  From picnic pavilions and kayak launches to volleyball courts and playgrounds, our park system offers numerous opportunities for your family to        re-create yourselves!

Emerald Isle's public accesses and parks are maintained by the Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation Department. 

Reservations for the parks are not required; first come first serve only.  All Public Water Accesses are governed by the ordinances and general safety precautions you see here.  All park hours are sunrise to sunset.  Overnight parking is prohibited.  Alcohol is prohibited in all town parks.  Please fill in holes dug on beach.  Sea turtles become trapped and emergency responders are hindered.

Western Ocean Regional Access - WORA

Located at 9003 Louise Avenue, 0.4 miles from the B. Cameron Langston Bridge, off Islander Drive and beside Queen's Court Condominiums.  Home of Emerald Isle's Summer Concert Series, the Beach Jive After 5.

Oyster Shell Recycling Bins

Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 5:30pm April through September at the Western Ocean Regional Access (WORA).  There is a $10 fee charged for parking at the Western Ocean Regional Access (WORA) on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the time period from April 1 through September 30 between the hours of 7am - 4pm.   Reservations are not accepted. First come first serve.

Handicapped Accessible Ramp and Observation Deck at WORA

Beach Wheel Chairs for physically challenged individuals are available for check out on a daily basis from Emerald Isle Fire Station #1 from 8am-5pm, 7 days a week.  Reservations are not accepted; chairs are to be obtained in person.  Emerald Isle Fire Station #1 is located at 7508 Emerald Drive.


Eastern Ocean Regional Access - EORA

Located at 2701 Emerald Drive, 6.4 miles from the B. Cameron Langston Bridge, between Pier Point and Ocean Reef condominiums at 2701 Emerald Drive.

NC Wildlife Resources Commission Boat  Launching Facility Emerald Isle

The facility is located on Bogue Sound at 6800 Emerald Drive near mile marker 18 on NC 58 (adjacent to Chapel By The Sea).  The facility includes  4 launching ramps and parking for 112 vehicle / trailer combinations, and a separate parking lot with 18 single vehicle spaces.  The new facility is managed by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, and is open 24/7/365.  There is no fee to launch a boat.

Oceanside Vehicular Public Accesses

Beach driving is allowed during the period from September 15 through April 30.  Beach driving is not allowed, however, between the Thursday before Easter weekend and the Monday that occurs 8 days after Easter Sunday.  Permits must be obtained from Town Hall.  More beach driving information. 

Dog Leg Ramp

Located at the end of Connie Street, in the vicinity of the Eastern Ocean Regional Access near mile marker 15 1/2.  No parking is available.

Black Skimmer Road

Located at the end of Black Skimmer Drive, in the vicinity of mile marker 19 and Town Hall.

The Point

The Point ramp is located at the end of Inlet Drive.
