Club
Come
out and join fellow neighbors and friends in an attempt to create a healthier
lifestyle. Each walk will begin and end at the
Emerald
Isle
Community Center
with different routes walked each week; most walks will be 2-3 miles. Rain
location will be the
Emerald
Isle Community Center gymnasium. This program is open to participants of
all ages. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Each mile walked earns 1 point. There will also be Bonus Miles that can
be earned each week; for example a family walk outside of the Walking Club can
earn up to 5 points! At the end of the season, awards and gifts will be
given to participants in many different categories. For more

Shots™ Demo
Emerald
Isle Parks & Recreation is currently accepting registration for Soccer Shots™.
Soccer Shots is an innovative program that emphasizes both soccer skills and
character skills by using imaginative soccer games that kids love.
Soccer Shots™ will be offered
to children ages 2-5 at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation, 7500 Emerald Drive.
Soccer Shots™ for mature 2 & 3 year olds will take place on Tuesdays from
1-1:45pm beginning September 14th for 10 weeks. Soccer Shots™ for
ages 4 & 5 will take place on Wednesday from 1-1:45pm beginning September 15th
for 10 weeks. The fee is $80 per child and includes 10 weeks of professionally
designed lessons in coordination, teamwork, character development, physical
skills and fun. No gear is needed to participate. Registration forms are

Beach Volleyball Tournament
Tournament location: Western Ocean Regional Access, Islander Drive, Emerald
Isle. This is an "open gender" series and players must be at least 16 years
old. Pre-registration is required (no game day registration). Team fee is
$25 per team with prize money going to the top two teams (70% to first place;
30% to second place). Teams must bring their own ball and will act as
officials when not playing. Note: officiating may be required after
elimination. There are no rain dates and refunds will be issued for bad

Emerald Isle’s Fifth Annual Day4Kids is sponsored by
Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Festival, Emerald Isle Police Department, Emerald
Isle Business Association and Crystal Coast Parent. Bringing adults and
children of all ages together for a fun-filled day of vendors, activities,
games, face painting and more! The first 100 children will get a free
“Something’s Fishy” t-shirt designed by Graham Guthrie age 9 of Emerald Isle’s
Summer Day Camp Program! Stop by the information booth to pick up your t-shirt
and an event map. Please note 100 t-shirts will be given away to the first 100
children.

Witness the handling skills of the basketball sensation
Dexter “Loveboat” Williams at 10am, see and feel the live creatures in the Touch
Tank provided by NC Aquarium at PKS, shake hands with Fat Cat and Ronald
McDonald and take a tour of the Sensory Safari. Isabel the Clown and her
floppy-eared friend will be visiting with children throughout the day creating
smiles and painting faces. Other activities include music by DJ Mack, free
inflatable rides, static displays, educational booths, Dance Dance Revolution,
big wheel races, kickball, fossil dig and free refreshments while supplies
last. Friends of the Library will be hosting a paperback exchange. You can
turn in your books at the Western Carteret Library or simply bring your books
with you to the event. Books will be exchanged on a one for one basis.
Day4Kids will be held Saturday, September 18th from 10am to
2pm at Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Center, 7500 Emerald Drive in Emerald

Pet First Aid & CPR
Learn the basics of caring for your pet and keeping them
safe. Training will address first aid and CPR techniques as well as
recognizing symptoms of illness, recommended vaccinations and more.
Participants will earn a certificate of completion. Maximum class size is 10
with a mandatory minimum of 6 participants. Class fee is $20 per student;
students should be at least 12 years of age. Goodie bags will be distributed
to each participant. Certification class takes place at the EMS building,

Flu shots will be offered at Emerald Isle Parks &
Recreation, 7500 Emerald Drive on Friday, October 1st from 9am to 11am in the
gymnasium. Flu shots will be administered by the Cape Carteret Walgreen’s
pharmacist and staff. The flu vaccine is available for $29.99, zero copay for
Medicare Part B, Tricare, Cigna (national), United Healthcare and Blue Cross/
Blue Shield of North Carolina recipients. For more information on payment or

October 16, 2010 7th Annual Emerald Isle Triathlon 8am-Eastern Ocean Regional Access
The Emerald Isle Business Association and Emerald Isle
Parks and Recreation Department proudly presents the 7th Annual Emerald Isle
Triathlon; to be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 8am in Emerald Isle, NC.
This is a sprint race and includes a 750 meter swim in the Atlantic Ocean,
followed by a 19.3k out and back bike along highway 58 and will conclude with
a 5k out and back run along Ocean Drive. The race transition area for all
phases is the Eastern Regional Ocean Access (2701 Emerald Drive). There is
only one team category; teams must have 3 members, one for each leg of the
race.
Packet pick up will be held Friday, October 16 from 4-7pm
at the Emerald Isle Community Center (7500 Emerald Drive); and at the race
site on race day from 6-7am. There will be awards for the top three male
and top three female finishers, plus the top three finishers in each age
division; 16-U, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59,
60-64, 65 and over).
The entry fees are $45 for USAT members, $55 for non
members, and $100 for teams. Register up until October 13. Note: There will
be no race day registration. Registration can be completed at active.com.
There will be a mandatory pre-race meeting at 7am on race day in the
transition area. All racers must attend this meeting or forfeit
participation.
Proceeds from the race benefit Emerald Isle Parks and
Recreation and Emerald Isle Business Association scholarship foundation.

Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald
Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on
Saturday, November 27th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive. Parade
route . Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in
the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end. All other Santa’s
