Race the Waves - 8K Road Race & 5K Fun Run

Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation Department presents the 3rd Annual 8K Road Race and 5k Fun Run will begin at 8am at the Eastern Ocean Regional Access at 2701 Emerald Drive.  The 8K course follows a simple out-and-back route from the access, briefly down Hwy. 58, and then along scenic Ocean Drive.  The 5K Fun Run will be noncompetitive and begin at 8:15am.  Packet pick-up for the will begin at 6:45am at the access and will end sharply at 7:30am.  Please register at the following:  http://activenet18.active.com/emeraldisle/ .  Fees for the race are $15 before Friday, May 11th and $20 through Thursday, May 17th.  No registration will be accepted after Thursday, May 17th.  The first 100 RACE (not Fun Run) entrants will receive a free t-shirt and awards will be presented to participants in seven different age categories in the 8k.  For more information contact 252.354.6350.

Team fees are converted to prize money to go to the top two teams (70% to first place; 30% to second place). Teams must bring their own ball and will act as officials when not playing. Note: officiating may be required after elimination. There are no rain dates and refunds will be issued for bad weather. USAV/EI beach rules apply. Walking Club

Come out and join fellow neighbors and friends in an attempt to create a healthier lifestyle.  Each walk will begin and end at the Emerald Isle Community Center with different routes walked each week; most walks will be 2-3 miles.  Rain location will be the Emerald Isle Community Center gymnasium.  This program is open to participants of all ages.  Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.  There will also be Bonus Miles that can be earned each week; for example a family walk outside of the Walking Club can earn up to 5 points!  At the end of the season, awards and gifts will be given to participants in many different categories.  For more information, contact 252.354.6350.

Emerald Isle’s Seventh Annual Day4Kids

Bringing adults and children of all ages together for a fun-filled day of vendors, activities, games, face painting and more!  Celebrate our children by spending meaningful time with them.  Day4Kids will be held Saturday, September 15th from 10am to 2pm at Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Center, 7500 Emerald Drive in Emerald Isle.  Rain or Shine. Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on Saturday, November 24th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive.  Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end.  All other Santa’s will be sent back to the North Pole!  Also, please join us after the parade for the official Christmas Tree Lighting at Merchant’s Park!  Enjoy free refreshments, as well as a holiday caroling sing-a-long as Santa Claus visits with the children.  To enter, contact Diane Schools at 252.354.2916.

On November 27th 28th & 29th, Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation will host a very special visitor; jolly Ol’ St. Nicholas at his “authentic beach shack”.  On November 27th & 28th professional photographer Jeff Pennell of Jeff Pennell’s Photography, Inc. will capture the smiles of your child or grandchild.  November 29th will be dedicated to photographs of your four legged, fur-children with the charming man in red.
