Youth Programs

   

After School Program: Children, kindergarten through 5th grade, ride a bus to the Community Center for afternoon fun in a safe, disciplined environment.  The After School Program follows the Carteret County Schools' schedule.  Fee is $50 per child per week.  All children must be picked up by 6pm each afternoon.  Email Laura Lee Davis with questions.  View and print the complete After School Program Description.

Kids’ Summer Art Smart - Calling all children in second grade and above.  You are invited to sign-up for an art class that is fun and educational; sign-up for Kids Summer Art Smart with Joyce Trafton! Classes are 4 days a week; M,T,W,R from 9am to 12pm. Fee is $75.00 (per child/per session) with a discount for the second child of the same family.  Fee includes all materials, except where noted.

Three unique sessions are being offered:

Session 1: Textile Art • June 16-19 from 9am to 12pm.  Silk screening t-shirts, stencils on fabric, sewing machine 4-square pillows, weaving. Introduction of terms used by textile artists.  Students will need a blank light colored t-shirt and a light-colored pillowcase.

Session 2: Japanese Calligraphy & Crafts • July 14-17 from 9am to 12pm.  Scroll making, origami, fish printing, kime-komi decorations and Japanese writing.  Introduction of cultural terms. 

Session 3: Sculpture • July 21-24 from 9am to 12pm.  Sand casting, paper and cloth sculpture.  Introduces science and art as students study natural things. 


Mother's Morning Out:  Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation is currently accepting children from age 2 (must be potty trained) to 5 years of age for our Mother’s Morning Out (MMO) Preschool Program.  Spaces are limited and tend to fill-up quickly.  The 2 & 3 year old class meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am until 12pm.  The 4 & 5 Year old class meets on Wednesday and Friday from 9am until 12pm.  The Mother’s Morning Out Preschool Program operates on the Carteret County school calendar.  The fee is $100 per month.  One monthly volunteer (mom, dad, grandma, uncle, nanny, etc) day and snack are required.  Membership to Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation is not required.  Call Laura Lee Davis at 252-354-6350 to register your little one for MMO with Ms. Connie Bryant.  Don’t delay Mother’s Morning Out starts in September  Print flyer  to learn more about what the children accomplish throughout the course of the year!

Thank you for your interest in the Summer Day Camp program.  All of the sessions are full!

Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp Program mission is to provide both entertaining and educating activities for children age 6-12, where activities are facilitated in a safe, fun environment by means that are structured and well supervised.  Activities will provide enrichment for the children and the community.  Contact Laura Lee Davis, Program Supervisor at 252-354-6350 or ldavis@emeraldisle-nc.org.  Visit www.emeraldisle-nc.org/eiprd weekly for updates, field trip information, and per diem fee information and just for fun!
