Fire Department
Part-Time Seasonal – Beach Patrol / Lifeguard

The Town of Emerald Isle is accepting applications for seasonal part-time beach patrol / lifeguard personnel.  Applicants for this position must be 18 years of age, high school graduate or GED, possess a valid NC driver’s license and possess current Lifeguard certification with CPR/first aid certification.  EMT-B or emergency responder certification preferred but not required.  Applicant must demonstrate an ability to swim 500meters over a measured course in 10 minutes or less. This standard must be met and maintained by all lifeguards. Experience in water safety and or EMS work related fields in an ocean setting, or an equivalent combination of experience and education are preferred.  This position is responsible for carrying out a full range of lifeguard and surf rescue tasks to include water rescues both swimming and or using jet-ski’s and rescue boats.  This position requires emergency medical response when needed, and for enforcing a variety of local ordinances.  Position is considered safety-sensitive and subject to pre-employment drug screening. Applicant will be in close contact with the public so excellent communication skills are required.  Starting pay for this position is $12.00/hr.  Positions open until filled.  Please submit a Town of Emerald Isle application which may be obtained at the Emerald Isle Administration Building, the Emerald Isle Fire Department or downloaded from the employment application link as provided above, along with copies of certifications to Jeff Strawser, Fire Captain, Town of Emerald Isle, 7500 Emerald Drive, Emerald Isle, NC 28594.  EOE.

Public Works Department
Seasonal Employee – Laborer

The Emerald Isle Public Works Department is seeking self-motivated and outgoing individuals for the positions of - Seasonal Laborer (1):   Duties for this position involve performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, litter pick-up, building and vehicle maintenance, beach maintenance, street and right-of-way maintenance. Individuals should be able to perform these duties with minimal supervision. Individuals should appear clean and professional. Required workweek includes weekends. Valid NC driver’s license and clean driving record required. Ability to consistently lift 50+ pounds required. Prior experience using 4-wheel drive is helpful.
