NCDOT To Host Public Meeting for Proposed Intersection Improvements at NC 24 and NC 58 in Cape Carteret, NC

 

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes the addition of a second dedicated right turn lane from N.C. 24 east onto N.C. 58 south, N.C. 58 north onto N.C. 24 east, from N.C. 24 west onto N.C. 58 north and N.C. 58 south onto N.C. 24 west; and extending existing merge lanes towards the bridge along N.C. 58 to improve operation and increase storage capacity. The project was submitted to the STIP by the Down East Regional Planning Organization (DERPO). The NCDOT has developed a design concept for the project.

A public meeting will be held at Cape Carteret Aquatic & Wellness Center located at 300 Taylor Notion Road, Suite B in Cape Carteret on Tuesday November 7th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the project and gather public input on the proposed design. The proposed design will also be available on the project website for public review and comment.

Interested citizens may attend at any time between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Please note that there will not be a formal presentation. NCDOT representatives will display maps and be available to answer questions and receive comments. Comments and information received will be taken into consideration as work on the project develops. Written comments or questions can also be submitted at the meeting or later by November 30th, 2017.
