Tabata
What is Tabata?
The Tabata
workout is a high-intensity interval training regime that produces remarkable
results. A Tabata workout is comprised of an interval training cycle of 20
seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated over and over for several
minutes.
Who can do it?
Everyone!
Tabata is suitable for all abilities and levels of fitness. You level of fitness
determines the amount of effort you put into the exercises right from the first
set. If you want to pace yourself, that’ s fine, build up slowly and get used to
the exercise before increasing your effort levels.
Why do it?
Everyone will
have a fitness plateau at some stage in their training or perhaps you are bored
with your current exercises. This will help you get some real muscle growth.
Tabata’s high repetition and extremely short rest periods will increase the
blood flow to the muscle fibers. Tabata delivers vital nutrients, oxygen, and
anabolic hormones, meaning more energy available during the workout and better
recovery for growth. It will increase your lifting capacity. Short and intense
hit routines have proven to rise resting metabolic rate (RMR), which means your
body will continue to burn calories well after finishing the exercises. If you
want a higher metabolism, to build strength and muscular endurance, get more
defined muscles, strip fat, or take your fitness to the next level, then you
have to try Tabata.

Reflexology by Cheryl Smith, certified reflexologist
Reflexology is a holistic approach to health and well-being that supports
balance, comfort and healing. It feels like a slow, intentional foot massage
that provides instant relaxation and stress relief, but actually does much more
by promoting positive changes elsewhere in the body. It can help improve
circulation, joint flexibility, immune function, digestive function, and
decrease muscle tension and soreness, among many other health concerns. In
addition, reflexology promotes better sleep, concentration, reduction of anxiety
and creates an overall sense of well-being.
Reflexology is available on Monday and Wednesday between 8:30-11:30am and
6:45-8pm and Friday 10:00am-5:00pm. Sessions include an initial foot soak, then
45 minutes of reflexology for $40. A soothing, pampering, mud & scrub can be
added to finish the session for an additional $5. Introductory sessions are $30,
and referrals bring the price to $30, as well. Gift certificates are available.
