Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Offers Soccer Shots™

Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation is currently accepting registration for Soccer Shots™. Soccer Shots is an innovative program that emphasizes both soccer skills and character skills by using imaginative soccer games that kids love.

Soccer Shots™ will be offered to children ages 3-5 at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation, 7500 Emerald Drive. Soccer Shots™ will take place on Wednesday from 1:00pm-1:35pm beginning January 14th and finishing March 4th. The fee is $80 per child and includes 8 weeks of professionally designed lessons in coordination, teamwork, character development, physical skills and fun. No gear is needed to participate. “Soccer Shots is a program offered to children 2-8 that meets once a week at daycare centers, schools, and parks throughout the city to introduce your child to soccer! We not only teach soccer skills, but also work on improving balance, coordination and agility with the kids. The PEP program, or Police Educating the Public, will be a series of one hour classes presented on the third Tuesday of every month in the Town Board Meeting Room at 10:00am. These classes will cover a variety of subjects relevant to issues being faced by communities across the country. Our goal with this program will be to increase public awareness, as well as, provide education and tips on how you can prevent yourself from becoming vulnerable to these issues. Our vision for this program is that by putting a little "PEP" in our community, we can reduce criminal activity and prevent our citizens from becoming the next victim. 24th Annual Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Festival


The 24th Annual Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Festival sponsored by Transportation Impact takes place on Saturday, March 14th from 9am-6pm at the Emerald Plantation shopping center. Admission and parking are free for the festival. This year’s festival will feature over 75 arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, clowns and static displays along with amusement rides, a climbing wall, face painters, and many other fun, family-oriented activities. As always, the festival will feature delicious foods such as corned beef and cabbage, shrimp burgers, hamburgers and hot dogs, Mediterranean cuisine, BBQ, funnel cakes, fried peanuts, cotton candy and much, much more. Festival goers can also enjoy a beer garden. The Little Ms. & Mr. Leprechaun Contest will take place on the main stage at 9am. The contest is for boys and girls ages 2-3 and 4-5 with each participant being judged on the originality and creativity of their costume and overall stage presentation. Contest organizers require pre-registration by 12pm on Thursday, March 12th and ask that participants be under the main stage’s tent by 8:30am on the day of the event. Each walk will begin and end at the Emerald Isle Community Center with different routes walked each week; most walks will be 2-3 miles. Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt & Festivities will take place on Sunday, April 13th at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation beginning at 12pm (noon). Join the EI Bunny at noon for festivities including sidewalk chalking, face painting, music and more. Sharply at 1pm the egg hunting whistle will be blown. Egg hunters should bring their own basket and arrive prior to 12:45. There is no fee to participate in the egg hunt. Three age categories: Ages 4 & Under • Ages 5 to 8 • Ages 9 to 12. Prizes will be awarded in each age group for the person(s) finding the EI bunny’s prize eggs. Joy the Clown will be present for fun face painting! The EI bunny himself will be on hand for photographs and to award the prizes. Everyone is invited! No registration is required.

Summer Day Camp Registration

Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation takes great pride in the Summer Day Camp program offered to children ages 6-12 each summer. **PLEASE NOTE** that changes have been made to the way registration will take place in 2015. For 2015, a lottery system will be in place for registration. NO CAMPING OUT REQUIRED! Registration forms must be turned in between 8am on April 27th and 12pm on May 4th. Only one registration form required per family. Staff from Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation will conduct the lottery on Tuesday, May 5th and parents will be contacted accordingly. A $25 per session deposit will be due by Friday, May 8th to secure your child’s spot. Registration will be available at www.emeraldisle-nc.org/eiprd  beginning April 24th 2015. Camp operates from 7:30am until 5:30pm Monday through Friday during all 8 weeks of camp. The fee for each themed week of camp is $75; per diem fees apply throughout the week. Membership to Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation Community Center is not mandatory. Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp Program Mission: Is to provide both entertaining and educating activities for children 6-12, where activities are facilitated in a safe, fun environment by means that are structured and well supervised. Activities will provide enrichment for children and community. Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp Program Objective: Is to reach out into the community and neighboring communities to encourage children and parents to see Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp as a place for children to interact with one another, learn valuable lessons in communication, develop teamwork skills, enhance physical condition, provide avenues for creative endeavors and present the children with opportunities to give back to the community. The Town will again present July 4th beginning at 9 pm on Saturday, July 4th. Parking will be available at Bogue Inlet Pier as well as along NC 58. The fireworks will also be visible from Bogue Sound and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

The PEP program, or Police Educating the Public, will be a series of one hour classes presented on the third Tuesday of every month in the Town Board Meeting Room at 10:00am. These classes will cover a variety of subjects relevant to issues being faced by communities across the country. Our goal with this program will be to increase public awareness, as well as, provide education and tips on how you can prevent yourself from becoming vulnerable to these issues. Girls Youth Volleyball registration will begin August 1st and end August 31st. Registration Fee is $30 for the following age divisions: Girls 9-10, 11-12, 13-14. Player's age is determined as of Oct. 1st. The league is sponsored by Carteret County Parks & Recreation, Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation and Morehead City Parks & Recreation Departments. 12th Annual Emerald Isle Christmas Parade

Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on Saturday, November 28th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive. Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end. All other Santa’s will be sent back to the North Pole! Also, please join us after the parade for the official Christmas Tree Lighting at Merchant’s Park! On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation will host our 3rd Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair in the Gymnasium. The Fair will feature all handmade or hand-authenticated items from local artisans and crafters. This is also the weekend of our annual Christmas Parade which is the kick-off to the holiday season here in Emerald Isle. Supper Club of Emerald Isle takes place at the Meeting Room in Police Department Building, next to the Department, 6:30-8pm, Pot-luck buffet. Bring a wrapped toy and join the fun with the reading of “Night Before Christmas” as well as passing and opening of the gifts followed by packing the unwrapped gifts for delivery, with all other collected toys in Emerald Isle, to Toys for Tots.
