The Town will again present fireworks off Bogue Inlet Pier beginning at 9 pm on Thursday, July 4th. Parking will be available at Bogue Inlet Pier as well as along NC 58. The fireworks will also be visible from Bogue Sound and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Summer Camp Kids Host Lemon-Aid Sale

On Friday, July 5th from 9am to 12pm the children of Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation’s Summer Day Camp Program will be hosting a Lemon-Aid sale to benefit the American Red Cross.  Everyone is invited to come! The kids will ask for a minimum donation of $1 for a cup of lemon-aide. Come not only to show your support for the American Red Cross but to help show the kids how they can make a difference!

On Tuesday, July 9th from 1pm-3pm the kids will be hosting a Recycling Drive. Come out and help the kids learn about sorting materials and recycling for a  healthier future. Please only bring recyclable materials. Bottles and jars should be rinsed out prior to recycling. The kids will help you sort your recycling and the materials will be used throughout the week for games and crafts. EIPR will properly dispose of all recyclables at the end of the week!

Each year, the campers put their best efforts into designing a poster that will receive the most votes! The winning poster will be used as the print for the front of our Day4Kids event t-shirts! The posters will line the hall at the community center from noon on Tuesday, July 16th through 3:00pm on Friday, July 19th. Come visit us between those times to place your vote! A voting box will be available at the front desk!

You never know when you will find yourself in an emergency situation and knowing the proper methods and procedures may boost your confidence to take action and save someone’s life! American Heart Association First Aid & CPR Certification provides training on how to correctly perform First Aid and CPR on adults, children and infants. All About Learning: LEGO Enrichment Camp

Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation will be hosting All About Learning and their special LEGO Enrichment Camp. Two classes will be held. Junior Engineering One will take place from 9am-12pm for first through third grade children. The second will take place from 1pm-4pm for fourth through eighth graders. Classes run Monday, August 12th through Thursday, August 15th. This class will help reinforce and add to what your child has learned in the classroom.  The class will be facilitated by a local instructor from All About Learning Inc. All About Learning Inc. is a company based in Sparta, Michigan and is in the business of creating brighter futures, offering ten different classes for any school age group (K-8) that focus on STEM learning.  Instructors create a fun, hands on environment to help kids build on their education. The upcoming Enrichment Classes have limited openings available. There is a minimum of 12 participants required. Please register no later than July 29th.  Cost for the week is $119 and is due by July 29th. This payment is only refundable in the event the class is cancelled. Come out and join fellow neighbors and friends in an attempt to create a healthier lifestyle. Each walk will begin and end at the Emerald Isle Community Center with different routes walked each week; most walks will be 2-3 miles. Rain location will be the Emerald Isle Community Center gymnasium. This program is open to participants of all ages. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. There will also be Bonus Miles that can be earned each week; for example a family walk outside of the Walking Club can earn up to 5 points! Coastal Environmental Partnership sponsors a series of Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Days in Carteret, Craven and Pamlico counties. They will be collecting in Carteret County on September 21, 2013 from 8am to 1pm at the Carteret County Health Department, 3820 Bridges Street, Morehead City, NC.  They will accept: latex and oil paints, used motor oil, lawn and garden fertilizer and pesticides, farm pesticides, gasoline, drain openers, paint thinners, cooking oil, anti-freeze and batteries.

They will also accept computers, CRT’s, printers, televisions, used cell phones and other electronic waste for recycling from HOUSEHOLDS ONLY. SORRY, STATE LAW FORBIDS ACCEPTING MATERIALS FROM COMMERCIAL SOURCES!

CPR and First Aid for Adults, Children & Infants

You never know when you will find yourself in an emergency situation and knowing the proper methods and procedures may boost your confidence to take action and save someone’s life! American Heart Association First Aid & CPR Certification provides training on how to correctly perform First Aid and CPR on adults, children and infants. All students must pre-register and pre-pay to participate. Certification class takes place at the Community Center, 7500 Emerald Drive, Emerald Isle. Maximum class size is 9. A minimum of 6 students is required. Certification class fee is $32.25.No textbook fees! You must pre-register and prepay for this class. Emerald Isle Christmas Parade

Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on Saturday, November 30th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive. Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end. All other Santa’s will be sent back to the North Pole! Also, please join us after the parade for the official Christmas Tree Lighting at Merchant’s Park! Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation will host a very special visitor; jolly Ol’ St. Nicholas at his “authentic beach shack”. Professional photographer Jeff Pennell of Jeff Pennell’s Photography, Inc. will capture the smiles of your child or grandchild. One day will be dedicated to photographs of your four legged, fur-children with the charming man in red. The sitting fee for each of your pint-sized loved ones is just 5 cans of non-perishable food or a 5lb. bag of dog or cat food, additional donations are welcome. Your professional photographs will be available for purchase online at www.jeffpennell.com  from December 10rd to December 17th. The basic package starts at $29.95. Santa Claus will be at his beach shack from 12-7 each day, but is available by appointment only. Preregistration and a $10 deposit is due at registration. Sitting times can be reserved by contacting Sarah McNally at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation. Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society and Wounded Warriors. What a great time of year to give! Not only do you get a beautiful photographed memory of your children or fur-children, but you also support our wounded heros and animals in need.
