Flu & Shingles Shot Clinic
10am – 2 pm

Flu and Shingles shots will be offered at Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation, 7500 Emerald Drive on Friday, October 3rd from 10am to 2pm in the gymnasium. The trivalent flu vaccine is available for $26.25 and the quadrivalent flu vaccine for $30.75. There is zero copay for Medicare Part B, Aetna Health of the Carolinas, Tricare, CIGNA Healthcare of North Carolina, Coventry Health and Life Insurance Company, Humana Insurance Company, United Healthcare and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of North Carolina recipients. The Shingles vaccine is available for $227.00, There is no deductible for most Medicare part D plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield - State & Federal, Aetna and United Healthcare. Pricing can be checked for other types of healthcare prior to receiving the Shingles shot. For more information on payment or specific questions regarding the flu vaccination, contact Rite Aid Pharmacy in Beaufort at (252) 728-7700. Pre-registration is not required but is ENCOURAGED to ensure that Rite Aid has enough of the vaccines to inoculate all who wish to receive the shots. Thursday, October 9th, Bus Departs Emerald Isle at 8am, Show is at 2pm.  Lunch is “On Your Own” at any of the restaurants close by. Price includes ticket price, processing and transportation to and from the performance. A $50 non-refundable deposit (per ticket) is due at time of reservation, balance due by September 1st. Interested in Stamp Collecting? The Emerald Isle Philately (Stamp) Club welcomes new members!

The Emerald Isle Philately (Stamp) club has been an active club meeting in Emerald Isle for 22+ years. The group meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00pm in the Town Board Meeting Room, 7500 Emerald Drive (located in the Emerald Isle Police Department building next to the water tower - entrance is through the rear doors and then through the double doors to the right).

The Emerald Isle Philately Club is the only stamp club within 50 miles. The club is a member of the American Philatelic Society, as well as The United Stamp Society.

Fall Golf Tournament and Light up the Town 5K

The Gateway, Western Carteret Community Alliance is proud to present two upcoming events, a fall golf tournament and a Light up the Town 5 K Evening Run.  With a focus on promoting the enrichment of both community and business in Western Carteret proceeds from the events will benefit Decembers Crystal Coast Festival of Lights and Cape Carteret’s Christmas light initiative.

The golf tournament will take place October 9th at Star Hill Golf Club. Open to teams of 4, the tournament will begin at 8:00 am. The team fee of $260.00 will include carts, green fees and lunch provided by Quiznos of Cape Carteret. The Light up the Town 5 K evening run will take place on October 25th at 6:00 pm. The race route will take participants through the neighborhoods of old Cape Carteret behind Town Hall. All race participants will receive glow necklaces to help “light up the town” during the race.  In an effort to keep runners safe please do not wear costumes. The Emerald Isle Police Department is proud to introduce the PEP program to Emerald Isle. The PEP program, or Police Educating the Public, will be a series of one hour classes presented on the third Tuesday of every month in the Town Board Meeting Room at 10:00am. These classes will cover a variety of subjects relevant to issues being faced by communities across the country. Our goal with this program will be to increase public awareness, as well as, provide education and tips on how you can prevent yourself from becoming vulnerable to these issues. Our vision for this program is that by putting a little "PEP" in our community, we can reduce criminal activity and prevent our citizens from becoming the next victim. Emerald Isle Christmas Parade sponsored by the Emerald Isle Business Association and the Town of Emerald Isle will take place on Saturday, November 29th beginning at 3pm on Hwy 58, Emerald Drive. Important note to all entrants: There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parade and he will be riding in a float at the end. All other Santa’s will be sent back to the North Pole! Also, please join us after the parade for the official Christmas Tree Lighting at Merchant’s Park! On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation will host our 3rd Annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair in the Gymnasium. The Fair will feature all handmade or hand-authenticated items from local artisans and crafters. This is also the weekend of our annual Christmas Parade which is the kick-off to the holiday season here in Emerald Isle.
