Shotokan Karate is a traditional martial art that originated in Okinawa, Japan. Today, it stands as one of the oldest and most influential styles of karate. It offers numerous benefits, helping practitioners develop self-confidence, strength, flexibility, and focus, among other valuable attributes. Beyond self-defense, karate also promotes fitness for individuals of all ages. While we welcome participants of all ages and experience levels, we recommend a minimum age of 12 due to the concentration required.
Our class is affiliated with Shotokan Karate of America (SKA), an international organization founded by Mr. Tsutomu Oshima, a direct student of shotokan karate founder Gichin Funakoshi, in 1956. Presently, SKA boasts over 140 dojos worldwide, allowing members to participate in rank examinations, attend seminars, and partake in regularly scheduled intensive training sessions.
