Emerald Isle: Tropical Storm Idalia
EMERALD ISLE, NC (August 31, 2023 – 9:15AM) –
EI Yard Debris Collection Remains Suspended:
Yard debris collection remains suspended thru September 5, 2023.
Please refrain from placing yard debris along roadways until Tuesday, September 5.
EI Trash Collection Update:
Trash collection on Thursday, August 31, 2023, is suspended for sound side customers.
Ocean front trash collection will take place on Friday September 1, 2023.
Localized Flooding:
The EI Public Works department is working to pump water from low lying areas.
Certain roadways on the island may remain flooded, as water naturally recedes.
Safety First: Turn around and don't drown!
Power Outages
Power outages may persist throughout the local area.

National Weather Service
Local weather conditions are expected to improve Thursday afternoon.
A seasonally beautiful weekend is predicted for our area.
Ocean Conditions/ Swimming
Please be mindful of ocean flags, as dangerous marine conditions may be ongoing.
Never swim alone. Swim in guarded areas whenever possible.
Red Flag conditions are likely to remain throughout the weekend.
Storm Surge
Residents along immediate shorelines should remain vigilant due to the possibility of storm surge.
Keep a close watch on high-tide cycles.
