MEMO TO: Mayor Barber and Board of Commissioners
FROM: Frank A. Rush, Jr., Town Manager
SUBJECT: Proposed Rezoning – Town Administration Building and Ocean Oaks Park - from Residential-2 (R-2) and Business (B) to Government (G)
The Board of Commissioners is scheduled to consider the rezoning of two Town-owned properties to the Government (G) zoning district at the August 9 meeting. The Town Administration Building and Ocean Oaks Park are the only Town-owned properties not currently zoned Government, and the proposed rezoning would promote consistency among Town-owned properties.
The attached memo from Josh Edmondson, Town Planner, includes further explanation of this issue. The Planning Board, at its July 25 meeting, recommended approval of the proposed rezoning. The Planning Board also suggested rezoning properties owned by Bogue Banks Water Corporation (BBWC) to the Government zoning district in the future, and Town staff will be discussing this approach with BBWC officials.
A public hearing is required before Board consideration, and has been scheduled for the August 9 meeting.
I recommend approval of the proposed rezoning
