MEMO TO: Mayor Barber and Board of Commissioners
FROM: Frank A. Rush, Jr., Town Manager
SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending Fee Schedule – Eliminate Golf Cart Infrastructure Fee – Olde Cove
The Board of Commissioners is asked to approve the attached ordinance eliminating the new “golf cart infrastructure fee” established for the Olde Cove subdivision at the Board’s last meeting.
As you recall, this annual $300 fee would have been charged to all golf cart permittees in the Olde Cove subdivision for the next 5 years in order to generate a total $7,500 to provide 50% of the necessary funds for a new golf cart path connection to serve the Olde Cove subdivision. Soon after the Board approved the new fee, Colin Peel, a resident in the Olde Cove subdivision, delivered a check to the Town for the full $7,500 on behalf of all golf cart operators in the subdivision. Thus, there is no longer a need to collect the annual golf cart infrastructure fee.
The Town hopes to complete construction of the new golf cart path later this fall and winter, and have it open for golf cart use in early 2018.
I recommend approval of the attached resolution.
