Hurricane season is an uncertain time for coastal communities, but one thing is for sure: in the face of a storm, preparation is key. shelfCheck is a new app from the Raleigh-Durham area that uses crowdsourcing to inform shoppers of what items are in stock at the grocery stores near them. The aim is to help people avoid shortages for in-demand items like bread, toilet paper, bottled water, & batteries and to reduce the number of shopping trips that you have to make. Just create a shopping list and shelfCheck will find the store nearest to you that best meets your needs. While at the store, you can help others out by guesstimating how much of a particular product is left in stock as you check off your list.
The shelfCheck app a community driven platform, intended to help users save time and exposure when time is most critical. The app is free, easy to use, and secure.
