EI Lifeguards explain Beach Warning Flag System

Beginning April 15, 2021, the beach warning flag system will be posted along the Emerald Isle beach strand, along with seven other locations throughout the Town.

These color coded flags are posted daily, based on information by the National Weather Service, and reflect the ocean conditions for the day. It is possible for conditions and the flags to change throughout the day. If you have any questions, feel free to ask one of the Town's USLA-certified lifeguards.

You can also find the the flag updates posted online daily on the Town's website, app, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds.

William Matthias, Emerald Isle's Ocean Rescue Director, explains the significance of the beach warning flag system, along with Emerald Isle lifeguards Luke Brooks and Savannah Kilbane. Help us spread the word by sharing this message with your friends and family.
