With school starting again and the summer season starting to wind down, the Town will be adjusting its lifeguard services.
The Town’s lifeguards will be in place at the Western Ocean Regional Access and roving the entire beach strand on ATVs each day through Monday, September 4 (Labor Day). Beginning Monday, August 21, lifeguards will be on duty at the Eastern Ocean Regional Access only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Labor Day (and including Labor Day), but not other weekdays.
Labor Day is the last day of the season that the Town’s lifeguards will be on duty in Emerald Isle. The EI Fire Department will continue to respond and provide water rescue services as needed after Labor Day.
