Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K Postponed

EMERALD ISLE, N.C.-   In direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 7th Annual Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K is officially postponed.  To protect all race participants, volunteers, spectators and the Emerald Isle community, we must comply with instructions outlined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Governor Roy Cooper’s recommendation to cancel events that assemble more than 100 people.

Rescheduled Date:  We share deeply in the disappointment felt by our athletes and desire to make the most of this very unfortunate situation.  As a result, Emerald Isle will host our race on Saturday, October 31, 2020 and employ a Halloween theme.  Volunteers will be dressed in costume and racers are encouraged to do the same!

Weather Forecast:  Late October is absolutely beautiful upon Emerald Isle, with average temperatures ranging from 45-55 degrees during race hours.  Daylight savings time ends that night too, so every racer receives an extra hour of sleep for working hard!

Participant Options: We understand that the rescheduled date may not work for everyone, so we will offer the following options:

1- Automatic deferment to October 31, 2020

2- Deferment to March 27, 2021

3- Full refund

All current registrations will automatically be deferred to October 31, 2020. If you would like to be deferred to March 27, 2021 or receive a refund, please email emeraldislerun@gmail.com.  Due to a high volume of email traffic, please allow 7-10 days for a response.

You have trained hard, made travel arrangements, dreamt of the finish line and put blood, sweat and tears into your preparation for race day.  Your hard work and dedication is admirable. You’re amazing for what you have accomplished and this is just part of the journey. Please join us in October 2020 (or March 2021) and make your dream a reality!
