Job Title:  EMT/AEMT/Paramedic
Department:  EMS
Starting Rate:  Based on Certification Level
Position Information:  Part-Time

The Town of Emerald Isle is accepting applications from qualified applicants to fill Part Time position for EMT/AEMT/Paramedic. 

Job Summary:

Performs skills within their scope of practice under the employment of The Town of Emerald Isle EMS department and with the Carteret County Medical Protocols. AEMTS/Paramedics will need to have ALS privileges granted by the Carteret County medical director.  Duties will be to perform emergency medical care on scene and while in route to the hospital; responds to all emergency and non-emergency calls; applies all necessary treatment and transport of the sick and/or injured; creates patient care reports; communicates with all other employees, volunteers, dispatch, nurses, doctors and all persons with professionalism; maintains all equipment and living quarters to the expected standard. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess NC Certified as a EMT/AEMT/Paramedic or able to receive reciprocity
  • Must possess AHA BLS CPR certification
  • AEMTS/Paramedics must possess ACLS certification
  • AEMTS/Paramedics must possess PALS certification
  • AEMTS/Paramedics must possess PHTLS or ITLS certification
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience at current provider level
  • Must be able to operate all machinery and equipment necessary to perform the essential job functions
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, have good hand and eye coordination, and possess good communication skills.  

Salary:

Based on Certification Level and years of experience.

Hiring Process:

The hiring process will consist of a written test, in-person interview, TSOP (Technical Scope of Practice), criminal background screening, DMV record screen, and pre-employment drug screening.

Job Title:  Recreation Program Supervisor
Department:  Parks and Recreation
Starting Salary:  $38,705
Position Information:  Full-Time

The Town of Emerald Isle is seeking a self-motivated and outgoing individual for the position of Recreation Program Supervisor. This position plans, organizes, conducts and coordinates a wide variety of recreational and community service programs; conducts outreach and marketing activities with users, sponsors and community groups; develops long-range plans for recreation programs according to current needs, anticipated growth and future interests via input from community groups, civic groups, local officials, and the general public. Employee is responsible for coordinating and evaluating programs in community center setting; assisting in the development of standard operating procedures for facilities and routine audits/inspections of equipment, and is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Town Community Center including staff training/supervision, scheduling, special event development and administration. The position supervises, either directly or indirectly, a staff of approximately twenty employees. Additional duties include preparing the program budget recommendation, coordinating and monitoring the expenditure of funds, preparing requests for and administering grants, and other duties as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Director.

This full-time position requires a degree in Parks and Recreation Management or a related field and one year experience; or an associate degree in a recreation related field with considerable experience in recreation that includes a strong emphasis in programming, supervisory work and event promotion. Experience with computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher required. Applicant should have the ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing; the ability to deal effectively with public officials, civic groups, and the general public; the ability to meet various deadlines simultaneously; and the ability to understand and enforce rules and regulations. Job Title:  Equipment Operator

Position Information:  Full-Time

The Town of Emerald Isle Public Works Department is seeking a self-motivated individual for the full-time position of Equipment Operator. Duties for any Public Works position involve performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, litter pick-up, building and vehicle maintenance, beach cleaning and maintenance, street, street sign and right-of-way maintenance. Electrical experience preferred. Plumbing experience preferred. Equipment experience preferred (mower, tractor, backhoe, Trash Loader, etc…). Working knowledge of power tools and ability to perform light construction and repair preferred.  This position reports directly to the Public Works Director and the qualified applicant should be able to perform these duties with minimal supervision. This position will operate on a 40-hour workweek that may include Saturday and Sunday. Individual should be clean and professional. High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Valid NC Class A CDL or ability to obtain same within 6 months required. After School Program Substitute Teacher:  Duties include the close supervision of children ages 6-12 from 3:00-6:00pm.  Candidate will plan and carry out activities with the children, supervise homework, and provide a fun yet safe after school environment.  This position involves a great deal of interaction and supervision with children in indoor and outdoor settings.

Job Title: Firefighter

Starting Rate:  $11.55 hr.
Position Information- Part-Time

Summary

The Town of Emerald Isle spans over 12 miles of beautiful beaches and is surrounded by crystal clear water.  Our permanent population is 3,700 with our summer population exceeding 35,000.  The Fire Department employs part-time firefighters to cover various shifts and events, this employment is as needed to fill shift vacancies.

Key Requirements

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Ability to obtain NC Class B Driver’s License
  • Must be certified NC Firefighter II
  • Must be certified Hazardous Materials Responder I
  • Must be certified NC EMT

Duties

  • Perform general duties to include firefighting and water rescue emergencies
  • Participates in ongoing training courses within and outside of the department to include drills and classroom instruction
  • Requires emergency medical response to the district
  • Ability to provide excellent communication skills when conversing with the public and employees
  • Ability to drive and operate apparatus
  • Perform daily apparatus, water equipment, and medical equipment and station duties/checks.
