Summary

The Town of Emerald Isle spans over 12 miles of beautiful beaches and is surrounded by crystal clear water.  Our permanent population is 3,700 with our summer population exceeding 35,000.  The Fire Department employs part-time firefighters to cover various shifts and events, this employment is as needed to fill shift vacancies.

Key Requirements

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Ability to obtain NC Class B Driver’s License
  • Must be certified NC Firefighter II
  • Must be certified Hazardous Materials Responder I
  • Must be certified NC EMT
  • Must be certified NC D/O Pump

Duties

  • Perform general duties to include firefighting and water rescue emergencies
  • Participates in ongoing training courses within and outside of the department to include drills and classroom instruction
  • Requires emergency medical response to the district
  • Ability to provide excellent communication skills when conversing with the public and employees
  • Ability to drive and operate apparatus
  • Perform daily apparatus, water equipment, and medical equipment and station duties/checks.

Evaluation

  • Applicant’s shall be required to complete an agility test
  • Oral Interviews shall be conducted
  • Criminal Background Screen
  • DMV Record Screen
  • Pre-Employment Drug Screen

Position:  After School Program Substitute Teacher
Department:  Parks and Recreation
Position Information:  Seasonal On-Call

The Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a self-motivated and outgoing individual for the on-call position of: 

After School Program Substitute Teacher:  Duties include the close supervision of children ages 5-11 from 3:00-6:00pm.  Candidate will plan and carry out activities with the children, supervise homework, and provide a fun yet safe after school environment.  This position involves a great deal of interaction and supervision with children in indoor and outdoor settings.

Position: Customer Service Representative
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Part-time
Pay Grade: 12 ($13.28hr)
Department: Police

The Emerald Isle Police Department is accepting applications for a Customer Service Representative to work in the front office of the police department.  This position performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the department to include:  performing routine administrative and clerical tasks and duties assigned including typing, filing and answering the phone, responding to requests for information, receives, enters, researches, and assimilates data in a records management system and other database systems; and, performs a variety of related duties involved in the maintenance of highly confidential records; serves as the receptionist for the department and greets and provides quality customer service, information and assistance to the public.  Work schedule is primarily evenings and weekends.
