Duties for this position include cleaning and maintaining park buildings and amenities, grounds and beachfront area of our Eastern and Western Ocean Regional Accesses. Duties also include reporting violations of park rules to appropriate authorities. Individuals should be able to perform these duties with minimal supervision. Valid NC driver license and clean driving record required. All positions require regularly scheduled weekends. Valid NC driver license required. Ability to consistently lift 50+ pounds required. Job Title: Community Center Attendant

Summary

The Town of Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation department is seeking a self-motivated and outgoing individual for the part time position of Community Center Attendant.

Key Requirements

·       High school diploma/GED (Required)

·       Customer service experience: 1 year (preferred)

Responsibilities

General responsibilities include public interaction, building supervision, upkeep of the community center, and clerical duties relating to the operation of the Community Center. Candidate should be flexible, schedule requires mostly weeknights and some Saturdays.

Job Title:  Equipment Operator
Department:  Public Works
Starting Rate:  $28,618 
Position Information:  Full Time

The Town of Emerald Isle Public Works Department is seeking a self-motivated individual for the position of Equipment Operator. Duties for this position involve performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: Litter pick-up, building and vehicle maintenance, beach cleaning and maintenance, street, street sign and right-of-way maintenance. 

Electrical and/or plumbing experience preferred. Equipment experience preferred (mower, tractor, backhoe, etc.). Working knowledge of power tools and ability to assist with light construction and repair preferred.

This position reports directly to the Public Works Director and this person should be able to perform these duties with minimal supervision. The Emerald Isle Public Works Department operates on a 5-day, 40-hour work week that includes Saturday and Sunday. High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Valid NC driver license required with ability to obtain a Class A CDL.

Job Titles: Part Time EMT/AEMT/Paramedic
 
Department: EMS
EMT: $14.45/hr.
AEMT: $15.93/hr.

The Town of Emerald Isle is accepting applications from qualified applicants to fill Part Time positions for EMT/AEMT/Paramedic.

Summary:

Performs skills within their scope of practice under the employment of The Town of Emerald Isle EMS department and with the Carteret County Medical Protocols. AEMTS/Paramedics will need to have ALS privileges granted by the Carteret County medical director. Duties will be to perform emergency medical care on scene and while in route to the hospital; responds to all emergency and non-emergency calls; applies all necessary treatment and transport of the sick and/or injured; creates patient care reports; communicates with all other employees, volunteers, dispatch, nurses, doctors and all persons with professionalism; maintains all equipment and living quarters to the expected standard. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess NC Certified as a EMT/AEMT/Paramedic or able to receive reciprocity
  • Must possess AHA BLS CPR certification
  • AEMTS/Paramedics must possess ACLS certification
  • AEMTS/Paramedics must possess PALS certification
  • AEMTS/Paramedics must possess PHTLS or ITLS certification
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience at current provider level
  • Must be able to operate all machinery and equipment necessary to perform the essential job functions
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, have good hand and eye coordination, and possess good communication skills.

Job Title:  Ocean Rescue Lifeguard
Department:  Fire
Starting Rate:  $15 hr.
Position Information:  Seasonal (April- September 2021)

Summary

The Town of Emerald Isle spans over 12 miles of beautiful beaches and is surrounded by crystal clear water.  Our permanent population is 3,700 with our summer population exceeding 35,000.  Each year the Town employs seasonal lifeguards to oversee two dedicated ocean accesses and provide mobile guard patrols along the beach strand.  As an USLA certified agency, all training will be provided once hired. 

Key Requirements

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Duties

  • Responsible for carrying out a full range of lifeguard and surf rescue tasks to include water rescues both swimming and or using jet-ski’s and rescue boats.
  • Requires emergency medical response on the beach strand
  • Maintaining daily and weekly reports
  • Responsible for maintaining clean work area both in the office and on the beach strand
  • Performing daily apparatus, water equipment, medical equipment and station duties/checks.
  • Participating in physical fitness training and medical continuing education courses.
  • Ability to provide excellent communication skills when conversing with the public
  •  Ability to Drive and safely operate a vehicle on the beach strand

  • Must be certified Hazardous Materials Responder I
