Job Title: Parks Maintenance Worker
Department: Parks and Recreation
Starting Salary:  $28,231
Position Information: Full Time

The Town of Emerald Isle is seeking a self-motivated and outgoing individual for the full-time position of Parks Maintenance Worker. Duties for this position include landscaping and grounds maintenance and walkway repair and construction as well as park maintenance and cleaning. This person should be able to perform these duties with minimal supervision. Individual should appear clean and professional. H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. required. Valid NC driver’s license required. Ability to consistently lift 50+ pounds required. Light construction and landscaping experience desired. Job Title: Firefighter
Department: Fire
Salary –Grade 14 ($31,125 – 46,065)
Position Information: Full Time


The Town of Emerald Isle spans over 12 miles of beautiful beaches and is surrounded by crystal clear water.  Our permanent population is 3,700 with our summer population exceeding 35,000.  The Fire Department employs firefighters to cover rotating shifts and staff other events as required by job description. 

Key Requirements

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Ability to obtain NC Class B Driver’s License
  • Must be certified NC Firefighter II
  • Must be certified Hazardous Materials Responder I
  • Must be certified NC EMT
  • Must have completed NIMS 100,200,700,800


  • Perform general duties to include firefighting and water rescue emergencies
  • Participates in ongoing training courses within and outside of the department to include drills and classroom instruction
  • Requires emergency medical response to the district
  • Ability to provide excellent communication skills when conversing with the public and employees
  • Ability to drive and operate apparatus when needed
  • Perform daily apparatus, water equipment, and medical equipment and station duties/checks.


  • Applicant’s shall complete a written job knowledge test
  • Applicant’s shall be required to complete an agility test
  • Oral Interviews shall be conducted
