Job Title:Public Information and Media Director

The Town of Emerald Isle, one of North Carolina’s top rated beach communities, needs your expertise and energy to enhance its internal/external communication efforts.  Using a wide range of media, the Public Information and Media Director will share the story of Emerald Isle.

He/she will serve as spokesperson for the Town when designated, respond to the media, citizens, and customer inquiries.    He/she will maintain the content of all official communication platforms including web, Twitter, Facebook, the EI App, Constant Contact email and text lists. 

Special Events: He/she will help promote major annual/specials events such as the St. Patrick’s Day Festival, Beach Music Festival, EI Marathon and EI Fishing Tournament. 

The ideal candidate will hold a degree(s) in media, communications, journalism and/or similar disciplines.  Strong writing skills on various platforms is a must. 

A proven ability to shoot and edit video is critical to the newly developed role.

A background in emergency management communications is a plus.

The identified salary range is $46,615 – 68,990.  Hiring rate will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.  A host of exceptional benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, retirement, 401K and generous annual leave.

Job Title: Community Center Attendant
Department:  Parks & Recreation

Position Information:  Part-Time


The Town of Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation department is seeking a self-motivated and outgoing individual for the part time position of Community Center Attendant

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED (Required)
  • Customer service experience: 1 year (preferred)


General responsibilities include public interaction, building supervision, upkeep of the community center, and clerical duties relating to the operation of the Community Center. Candidate should be flexible, schedule requires mostly weeknights and some Saturdays.

The Town of Emerald Isle is seeking applicants for the positions of part-time Police Officer.  Applicants must be 21 years of age, be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.  Applicant must also be a graduate of BLET, and possess or be eligible for N.C. Job Title:  Part-Time Firefighter
Department:  Fire
Starting Rate:  $12.02 hr.
Position Information:  Part-Time


The Town of Emerald Isle spans over 12 miles of beautiful beaches and is surrounded by crystal clear water.  Our permanent population is 3,700 with our summer population exceeding 35,000.  The Fire Department employs part-time firefighters to cover various shifts and events, this employment is as needed to fill shift vacancies.

Key Requirements

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Ability to obtain NC Class B Driver’s License
  • Must be certified NC Firefighter II
  • Must be certified Hazardous Materials Responder I
  • Must be certified NC EMT


  • Perform general duties to include firefighting and water rescue emergencies
  • Participates in ongoing training courses within and outside of the department to include drills and classroom instruction
  • Requires emergency medical response to the district
  • Ability to provide excellent communication skills when conversing with the public and employees
  • Ability to drive and operate apparatus
  • Perform daily apparatus, water equipment, and medical equipment and station duties/checks.
