February has been called the month of love. It affords us the opportunity to think about others. After spending all day at the hospital as my grandson Eli underwent emergency surgery I began to mentally jot down some things I love and often take for granted.
I love my grandchildren saying “Granddaddy I love you”.
I love the beautiful sunrises and sunsets at Emerald Isle.
I love the peace that comes every time I cross the B. Cameron Langston Bridge as I say to myself – I am home, this is where I belong.
I love the way our community works together and reaches out to those in our area in need. This past Christmas our business association, churches, and other groups reached out to hundreds in need.
I love our brave women and men who live here and serve in our military and make daily sacrifices for our freedom.
I love walking our beautiful beaches on a crowded summer day or all alone in the cold of winter.
This year as we celebrate Valentines Day I urge our citizens and visitors to reach out and say “I love you” to someone who needs a word of encouragement, to our military, or to someone who needs to just hear those simple words “I love you”.
