Icy Conditions Persist, Town Offices and Community Center Will Open at 10 am Friday, No Trash Collection on Friday

Temperatures in Emerald Isle remained at or below freezing for most of today, and are forecast to be in the teens overnight tonight.  Icy conditions are expected to persist overnight and into tomorrow, and road conditions are expected to remain potentially dangerous.  Drivers should use caution when driving into and within Emerald Isle.

Town Offices

Due to the icy road conditions anticipated in the morning, Town offices will have a delayed opening at 10 am on Friday, January 5.

Community Center

The Community Center will also have a delayed opening at 10 am on Friday, January 5.

Trash Collection

Due to the heavy weight of trash collection trucks, the continued icy conditions on many residential streets, and the emphasis on safety, trash will NOT be collected on Friday.  The Town and our contractor apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate everyone's patience.

The normal trash collection schedule will resume on Monday, January 8 (oceanside) and Tuesday, January 9 (soundside).
