Man charged following chase through Emerald Isle

On Thursday, October 14, 2021, Carteret County Deputies and Emerald Isle Police arrested Dylan Norton Little, 19, of 126 Bogue Sound Dr., Newport, following a high-speed chase through Western Carteret County.

Carteret County deputies attempted to stop the vehicle Little was driving on Highway 24 in Bogue after a broadcast was issued that he was a suspect wanted for larceny of a firearm that had just occurred at EJW Outdoor Incorporated in Morehead City.

Little is accused of fleeing the store with a rifle after acting as an interested consumer. Store employees were able to wrestle the rifle way from Little, who was trying to flee the parking lot in his vehicle.

Sheriff's deputies and Cape Carteret Police chased the suspect through Cape Carteret and over the B. Cameron Langston Bridge into Emerald Isle, where Emerald Isle Officers pursued the suspect. Little eventually jumped out of the vehicle on Highway 58 near Bluewater Drive in Emerald Isle and charged toward officers on foot, who quickly took him into custody. One private automobile was struck by Little during the pursuit.

Little faces a variety of charges from the Sheriff's Office, Emerald Isle and Morehead City police, that include flee to elude, felony larceny, possession of stole property, assault with a deadly weapon and hit and run causing property damage. Additional charges may be filed against the suspect.

Little is being held in the Carteret County Jail under a $17,000 bond and is scheduled for his first court appearance on Friday, October 15.
