Mayor's Island Review

July 2019

July is a wonderful time on the island. It is a time for enjoying the beautiful weather on the Crystal Coast. It is the peak of our tourist season as we welcome visitors to our wonderful Town.  Our annual 4th of July Fireworks will be held on Thursday, July 4 off the Bogue Inlet Pier. The fireworks begin at 9 pm. Parking will be available at the Bogue Inlet Pier as well as along NC 58. This is always a fun night at Emerald Isle. Thanks to the Stanley’s for allowing us to use the Pier during the celebration.

The PEP program in July will be dealing with People in Crisis. It will be taught by Lt. Panzarella of the Emerald Isle Police Department. It will be held on July 16 at the Town Board Meeting Room at 10 am. Please join us and share your questions, thoughts, concerns and ideas. This should be a very informative presentation.

Coffee with a Cop will be held at Rucker John’s on Thursday, July 25 at 9 am. You are invited to join your neighbors and Police Officers for coffee and conversation.

The 1st Annual Emerald isle Fall Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 21. It will be held at the Wildlife Public Boat Ramp in Emerald isle. There will be three separate divisions: King and Spanish mackerel, Surf and Kayak. There will also be contests for the kids, a silent auction and other activities. There will be fun for everyone. Please visit the official website for the full details. https://emeraldislefishingtournament.com/

The Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival will be held this year on Saturday, September 28th at the Western Regional Beach Access. The Town is excited to continue the iconic Emerald Isle event and we hope everyone will join us for FREE admission. Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival t-shirts will be on sale. Please mark this date on your calendar. We have an exciting line-up of great musicians. I will have more details in the August article.

Thanks to Emerald Isle Chapel by the Sea for hosting the annual employee appreciation luncheon this year. Chapel by the Sea does this every year. I would like to personally thank the church for hosting this luncheon. Thanks for a job well done. As Mayor I am very appreciative to Chapel by the Sea.

In closing let me quote for The Reverend Doctor Peter Marshall who served as Chaplain of the United States Senate.

“May we think of freedom not as the right to do as we

please, but as the opportunity to do what is right.”

Enjoy the month of July.

Eddie
