SUBJECT:           Resolution Declaring Surplus Items for Public Auction

The Board of Commissioners is asked to approve the attached resolution declaring certain items as surplus and authorizing sale via an internet auction.

The attached resolution includes 4 motor vehicles:

  • 2001 Chevrolet Pickup, in excess of 115,000 miles and well-beyond its useful life for the Parks and Recreation Department,
  • 2007 Ford Explorer, in excess of 130,000 miles after also having been used by the Police Department as a beach patrol vehicle, 
  • 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, in excess of 125,000 miles after also having been used as a spare Police patrol vehicle, and 
  • Bobcat 3400 utility vehicle, previously handed down from the Fire Department to the Public Works Department.

The remaining items on the attached list are all relatively minor items, are several years old, have been replaced with better equipment, and/or no longer function efficiently for Town department operations.

All sale proceeds will be credited to the FY 16-17 General Fund budget.

I recommend approval of the attached resolution.
