SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting US Fire Administration Grant
The Board of Commissioners is asked to approve the attached resolution formally accepting an “Assistance to Firefighters Grant” from the US Fire Administration. The attached resolution formally accepts a grant award in the amount of $146,858, to be matched with $7,342 from the Town.
These funds will be used to purchase 24 new self-contained breathing apparatus (air-packs) and associated equipment (spare cylinders, face masks, and other) for EIFD personnel. The total cost of this equipment is $154,200. The new equipment will replace existing air-packs that are more than 17 years old, and will enhance the safety of our firefighters on-scene.
The required local match is not included in the FY 16-17 budget, and a companion budget amendment is also presented for Board consideration at the August 9 meeting. The required local match, $7,342 (5%) would be appropriated from General Fund balance.
I recommend approval of the attached resolution.
