MEMO TO: Mayor Barber and Board of Commissioners
FROM: Frank A. Rush, Jr., Town Manager
SUBJECT: Proposed Rezonings – Bogue Banks Water Corporation – from R-2 and RMF to Government (701 Emerald Drive, 7000 Emerald Drive, 7412 Emerald Drive, 9204 Coast Guard Road)
The Board of Commissioners is scheduled to consider the rezoning of four parcels owned by Bogue Banks Water Corporation from Residential-2 (R-2) and Residential Multi-Family (RMF) to the Government (G) zoning district at the October 11 meeting. The parcels include 2 well sites and 2 elevated water tank sites. The attached memo from Josh Edmondson, Town Planner, includes detailed information about the proposed rezonings. The proposed rezonings are being pursued in order to standardize the zoning of all Town-owned parcels and public utility parcels to the Government (G) zoning district. The Town has previously completed the rezoning of all Town-owned parcels and Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative parcels, and is now proceeding with the rezoning of parcels owned by Bogue Banks Water Corporation. Additional Bogue Banks Water Corporation parcels will be presented for Planning Board and Board of Commissioners consideration in the coming months. A public hearing has been advertised and scheduled for the October 11 meeting, and the Board may formally consider the proposed rezonings after the public hearing. I recommend approval of the proposed rezonings.
