SUBJECT:           Resolution Declaring Surplus Items for Public Auction

The Board of Commissioners is asked to approve the attached resolution declaring certain items as surplus and authorizing sale via an internet auction.

The following items are included in the attached resolution, all of which are several years old, have been replaced with better equipment, and/or no longer function efficiently for Town department operations:

  • 1988 Chevrolet Panel Truck - VIN# 1GCJP32JXJ3331417

Parks and Recreation Department’s “box” truck.  Vehicle is unreliable, old, with poor brakes and shocks - 17,600 miles.  Parks and Recreation Department will rely on rental trucks as needed.

  • Military surplus diesel generator

Old generator acquired by Fire Department from military surplus program approximately 10 years ago.  Not operational.

  • HP Deskjet 5500 computer printer

Police Department printer now obsolete, has been replaced.  

  • 2- Canon Rebel 2000 EOS 35mm cameras with attachment/bag

Police Department cameras replaced with digital cameras, obsolete.

  • 5- Whelen blue light bars with clear lenses

Replaced when new Police vehicles purchased.

  • 2- Whelen blue light bars with blue lenses

Replaced when new Police vehicles purchased.

  • 5 -Jotto Desk Center Consoles

Replaced when new Police vehicles purchased.

  • 10- Mechanical roll towel dispensers

Functional, replaced with new dispensers due to change in towel vendor.

  • 6- White wooden benches

Recovered from beach strand; no use for Town staff.

I recommend approval of the attached resolution.
