Mayor Barber will recognize the dedicated service and contributions of departing Commissioner Maripat Wright at the December 12 meeting.  A plaque of appreciation will be presented to Commissioner Wright.

In addition, Town officials, staff, and the general public will honor the service of Commissioner Wright at a special ceremony at 4 pm on December 12, prior to the Board meeting that night.  The ceremony will be held on the beach at The Point, adjacent to the vehicle ramp and wooden walkway.  A copy of the program for the ceremony is attached.

Commissioner Wright has served as a Town Commissioner for 12 years total, and is tied with former Mayor Art Schools as the 6th longest serving elected official in the history of the Town of Emerald Isle.  Commissioner Messer is the longest serving, with 16 years of service (and counting), followed by former Commissioner John Wootten with 14 years.  Lenora Heverly served as Mayor and Commissioner for a total of 13 years, 7 months, and George Spell served as a Commissioner for 13 years, 4 months.  Tom Hoover served as a Commissioner for 13 years.

I thank Commissioner Wright for her exceptional service to the Town of Emerald Isle, and also for her support for the Town staff and me personally over the years.  I wish her well in her future endeavors!
