Respecting Emerald Isle's dunes

The public is reminded to not walk, sit, lay or play on the dunes, and we need your help to spread the message! Disrupting the dunes is harmful to the new plants, and the sand structures that help protect our coastline. When you are coming onto the beach strand through a public or private access point, remember to walk the straight line and not cut across the new dunes.

The Florence Renourishment Project - Phase III is wrapping up this week, ahead of schedule, thanks to the hard work of EarthBalance, who has been planting along the new dunes throughout May 2021.

All oceanfront property owners are reminded they will need to contact the Town's Planning Department to receive the proper permit before installing sand fencing along the new dunes. You can contact Josh Edmondson at 252-354-3338 to ensure you have the proper permits.
