Retired Chief of Police Jeff Waters Issues Thank You Message To Community

I would like to take this moment and personally thank everyone for the emails, cards, phone calls, and personal contact I have received since the notice of my retirement from chief of police of the greatest police department, the Emerald Isle Police Department. There are not enough words to express my gratitude other than to say “Thank You” from the bottom of my heart.

It has truly been an honor and privilege to have been part of a department that takes pride in serving and protecting such a great community.  The support from the citizens and local businesses could not have been any better.  Their unwavering commitment to me and my staff will be not forgotten, and I praise them for their continuing support.

The backing from the police department staff and town staff could not have been any more encouraging during my tenure as chief of police. They have truly been an aid to all; especially to me.

What an overwhelming honor to have received so many acknowledgments and accolades throughout my retirement process and during my retirement ceremony. I am still humbled by receiving The Order of the Long Leaf Pine! Wow!  I could not have accomplished my vision for the police department and town without the support of the team I had surrounding me. I would love to name names, but there is not enough “ink in my quill”.

I would like to express my sincere love and appreciation for my wife, Niki. She has been such a wonderful helpmate to me and my career. The surprise ceremony given by her was a great finale. To my two sons, Chandler and Chase, I am so proud of the men they have become. Their continuous support, through the years of serving as an officer, helped me to accomplish my goals and stand where I am today. To my family, friends, and co-workers “Thank you”. I love you all and would not be where I am today if I did not have your unwavering support.

Again, I am so humbled and thankful for the privilege to have served you for 32 years. May the Lord bless and keep Emerald Isle in His hands.

God bless you all!
