Emerald Isle Fishing Tournament to Award Two Scholarships

Emerald Isle, NC - One objective of the annual Emerald Isle Fishing Tournament is to raise money to fund scholarships for local area high school seniors who intend to pursue a college degree in some aspect of marine science or technology. With the success of the inaugural tournament in 2019, the Executive Committee was able to grant a scholarship to a graduating senior from Swansboro High School and one from Croatan High School. Although the 2020 tournament had to be canceled at the last minute, the auction that is part of the tournament festivities was very successful. Therefore the Committee is pleased to announce that it will award up to six scholarships in 2021. This year applications will be invited from seniors not only at Croatan and Swansboro high schools, but also at East Carteret and West Carteret high schools.

Applications are now available from guidance counsellors at the respective high schools and online at the Emerald Isle town website  For additional information please contact Dr. Ron Dimock at 336-529-8986 or

The scholarship application is available through the high schools’ guidance office or may be downloaded here.
