Taught by certified Yoga instructors on staff, these classes focus on basic Yoga postures and introductory asanas (Yogic exercises) for the beginning Yoga student or for those who want to strengthen their foundational Yoga skills.

Yoga as Therapy

Instructed by a physical therapist, this class incorporates core strengthening, spinal stability, stretching, balance and gentle yoga poses. The emphasis is on correct alignment and modification. Appropriate for all levels.

NEW Class “Retransitions” for adults will take place from 11:20am - 12:20pm on Saturdays beginning June 2nd. This new entry level class deals specifically with movement control in adults as they age. Transitions that occur with aging and even with many younger sedentary individuals include reduced movement speed, movement composition, increased variability, reduced force control, and coordination difficulties. These problems are exacerbated by changes in balance, posture, coordination, and strength. The ability to move deliberately and precisely often determines whether or not an adult can live independently. The instructor uses Okinawan and Southern Chinese movements of kata, a series of flowing, connected moves to help reduce the issues of negative mobility caused by poor shifts in balance. You will have the opportunity to consciously examine your movements in order to deliberately correct them so that your balance, posture, and coordination retransition to provide a stable base of support for movement.  Unlike the SAFE class, this class will not have a self-defense component although kata are self-defense by nature. Therefore, it is easy to move into the SAFE class with a solid foundation of kata. Music will be used occasionally to help the flow of transitions. Cost per class is $2 for members and $5 for non-members.

 

In Pilates you’ll use your own body weight instead of weights to achieve stronger, more sculpted muscles and gain flexibility. This class focuses on mobility while stabilizing and strengthening your back as you firm your abs.


 

STRONG by Zumba® is a high intensity interval training class using traditional fitness moves for an athletic conditioning style workout. You use your own body weight as resistance to achieve muscle definition. Music is key in this class!


TABATA is suitable for all abilities and levels of fitness. Your level of fitness determines the amount of effort you put into the exercises right from the first set. The Tabata workout is a high-intensity interval training regime comprised of an interval training cycle of 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated over and over for several minutes that produces remarkable results. Tabata’s high repetition and extremely short rest periods increase blood flow delivery of vital nutrients, oxygen, and anabolic hormones to the muscle fibers- meaning more energy available during the workout and better recovery for growth. Short and intense hit routines have proven to rise resting metabolic rate (RMR), which means your body will continue to burn calories well after finishing the exercises. If you want a higher metabolism, to build strength and muscular endurance, get more defined muscles, strip fat, or take your fitness to the next level, then you have to try Tabata.

POUND is a full-body cardio jam session combining easy to follow light resistance (not complex or embarrassing) cardio moves with strength training and constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric and plyometric movements and poses. This combo works the entire body, raises the heart rate to a fat-burning zone, and forces each move to be as precise as a basic beat. Each 2-4 minute song is carefully calibrated with interval peaks and extended fat burning sequences, providing you with the best workout in the shortest span of time. After you’re done rocking out to the 45-minute POUND track, you’ll have done 15,000 reps, performed over 30 extended interval peaks, and zipped through over 70 techniques without even realizing it. Burn between 400 and 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique – all while rocking out to your favorite music!
