The Good News
The Town of Emerald Isle is actively managing 18 capital improvement projects.
Local tax dollars are not being spent to make these extremely needed repairs!
These projects are funded by $9.8M in FEMA 428 Grant monies.

Construction Timeline
The preferred time to complete these projects would be the offseason (December, January, and February).
Unfortunately, funding specifications and contractor availability has forced the Town to execute projects throughout the entire year.
Lee Ave Construction Timeline
Construction on Lee Ave. began on June 5.
Due to inclement weather conditions, we are experiencing delays in the construction timeline.
As a result, construction will continue into the mid- July.
Lee Avenue Detour Route: Please Use Cedar Street
We understand that this delay is inconvenient and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Due to the seasonally heavy traffic (and anticipated July 4th traffic), we are NOT detouring vehicles to Bogue Inlet.
- It is a safer option to use Cedar Street.
- EIPD will increase its police presence here.
Vehicles that normally utilize Lee Avenue to access Sound Drive (and associated areas) are asked to use Cedar Street.
- Drivers should note that Cedar Street is a hilly roadway.
- Please drive SLOW and watch for golf carts, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Working as swift as safely possible!
We assure you that our contractors are working diligently to minimize the impact and complete construction as soon as possible.
Stay tuned for further updates, as we progress towards the completion of the construction.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
