During the Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners meeting on April 9, 2024, town staff was given approval to proceed update the restroom facilities within the Community Center located at 203 Leisure Lane, Emerald Isle, NC 28594. Staff was also authorized to update the outdoor restroom building located at the Blue Heron Park, serving the playground and tennis court guests.
Community Center Bathroom Rehab
- Complete removal of the existing toilets, sinks, and divider walls.
- Installation of new touch-less toilets, urinals, sinks, and paper towel dispensers.
- The Shower Stalls will also be cleaned and updated with new hardware.
- Updated LED lighting fixtures are also planned.
- These improvements will be made in both the male and female restrooms.
Project Timeline: Priority will be given to all ladies and children during the construction process. Men will be provided with outdoor ADA complaint portable restrooms.

The estimated completion date for construction is: May 17th, 2024
Exterior Blue Heron Bathroom Rehab
- Complete removal of the existing toilets and sinks.
- Installation of new touchless toilets, sinks, and paper towel dispensers.
- The structures will also be cleaned and repainted.
- Updated LED lighting fixtures are also planned.
Project Timeline: Priority will be given to all ladies and children during the construction process. Men will be provided with outdoor ADA complaint portable restrooms.

The estimated completion date for construction is: May 21, 2024
