The variance hearing will likely be rescheduled to the next regularly scheduled Board of Adjustment meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 6 PM in the Town Board Meeting room. Further details will be published when available.

Notice of Special Meeting and Public Hearing
The public is hereby notified that the Emerald Isle Board of Adjustment will hold a special meeting on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 6:00 pm in the Floyd Messer, Jr Town Hall Board Room, 7500 Emerald Drive, Emerald Isle, North Carolina.
The purpose of the hearing is to consider a variance request submitted by Darrow Johnson to Section 5.1 of the Emerald Isle Unified Development Ordinance. The property is located at 103 Tammy Street. The variance would allow for the replacement and extension of an existing deck to extend ~9 feet into the front setback. A Notice of Violation was given for constructing the replacement deck without a zoning permit.
The public is hereby informed and asked to attend. The appeal application may be reviewed in the Department of Planning and Inspections at the Emerald Isle Administration Building, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
