Joe Smith started his career with Emerald Isle Public Works in May 2003 as solid waste coordinator, which included trash and recycle bin rollback services. Since then, he has held every position within the Public Works Department, as he advanced over the years. He was named the Public Works Director in 2022.
In addition, Joe holds a NC subsurface wastewater operator’s license and a NC pesticide application license.
