Greetings! I'm Roy Dudley Brownlow, a lifelong resident of Emerald Isle since the 1960s. After retiring with 32 years of dedicated service with the NC Division of Coastal Management (CAMA), I've transitioned into a role at Tidewater Associates – Engineers, Surveyors, & Planners in Cedar Point.
Emerald Isle holds a special place in my heart, having witnessed its growth over the last 60 years. My commitment lies in safeguarding our cherished family beach legacy and quaint, small-town allure. My wife Joy and I have nurtured our sons, Tyler and Trevor, here, who proudly carry the mantle as second-generation Emerald “Islanders.” Today, Tyler and his wife Meagan are raising our grandson on the very beach, forests, and waters that shaped my upbringing. It's this intergenerational continuity that defines Emerald Isle as “A Family Beach.”
With my deep-rooted local perspective, professional expertise, and lifelong engagement, I aim to steer our community towards a future that preserves our essence while managing growth and the current trend of re-development. My goals for Emerald Isle are straightforward:
