APRIL 9TH BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING RECAP
During the Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners meeting on April 9, 2024, the following actions were taken.
NOTE: Official minutes will be produced, reviewed, and approved at the next open public BOC meeting.
- Approval of the Consent Agenda
- Establishment of a temporary 5-person Stormwater Management Committee to last 12-months or less.
- Approval of a presentation/ consideration to review and establish Sidewalk Dining options in Emerald Isle.
- Approval was given to the EIPW’s team to purchase a new Knuckleboom truck.
- Authorization was given to include an annual increase of $5.00 in the solid waste rates (effective July 2024).
- The current solid waste fees for Emerald Isle are $295 per year.
- The proposed solid waste fee is $300 per year (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025).
- Approval to install post and rope at the Dogleg Vehicle ramp to delineate a pedestrian walking path.
- Approval to install post and rope at the Black Skimmer Vehicle ramp to delineate a pedestrian walking path.
- Updates were provided by EIPR for a series of improvements.
- Resurfacing and striping of the existing tennis courts were approved.
- Two tennis courts with the striping for 4 pickleball courts
- Remodeling of the Community Center and Blue Heron bathrooms were approved.
- Approval was granted to purchase a new Kayak Launch for EI Woods.
- Approval was granted to proceed with replacement of the Community Center Gymnasium Floor.
- Striping to include basketball, soccer and 4 pickleball courts.
