Application for Regional Access Parking Permit

Current Season Parking Information

The paid parking season for Regional Beach Access facilities begins April 1 and continues through September 30 each year.

Parking permit applications for Emerald Isle taxpayers will be available:

  • Online beginning March 1
  • In person beginning March 15

Eligibility and Permit Information

Emerald Isle Taxpayers

Emerald Isle property taxpayers are eligible to receive two (2) annual free parking permits for use at the:

  • Eastern Ocean Regional Access
  • Western Ocean Regional Access

Permits are issued only for vehicles registered in the name of the taxpayer and are non transferable.

Emerald Isle taxpayers are eligible to receive two (2) annual free parking permits for the Eastern Ocean Regional Access and Western Ocean Regional Access. The parking permits will be granted only for vehicles registered in the name of the taxpayer and are not transferable. The permit decal must be for the current year and be permanently affixed to the driver's side windshield. Improper placement of decals may result in paying the parking fee, confiscation or possible citation. Lost or confiscated permits will not be reissued. Decals from previous years must be removed. 

The sticker cannot be obtained at the regional beach access facilities and must be obtained prior to visiting the regional beach access facilities. To obtain your parking permit, please visit the Emerald Isle Police Department or call 252-354-2021 if you have questions. Please note: You will need a current vehicle registration(s) and driver's license when applying for your permit.

Special Eligibility - One Free Permit

The following individuals are eligible for one (1) free permit:

  • Handicapped individuals
  • 100% Disabled Veterans
  • Purple Heart recipients
  • Emerald Isle business owners

Supporting documentation must be uploaded at the time of application.

Required Documentation

Applicants must provide:

  • Current vehicle registration for each vehicle
  • Valid driver’s license

Incomplete applications or missing documentation may delay processing.


Permit Decal Requirements

  • The permit decal must be for the current year.
  • The decal must be permanently affixed to the driver side windshield.
  • Improper placement may result in payment of the parking fee, confiscation of the decal, or possible citation.
  • Decals from previous years must be removed.
  • Lost or confiscated permits will not be reissued.

Parking permits cannot be obtained at the regional beach access facilities and must be secured prior to visiting.


Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs)

Low Speed Vehicles that meet the eligibility requirements above do not need to purchase a Regional Access parking permit.

However, LSVs that park in designated golf cart parking spaces at beach access locations that provide golf cart parking are required to obtain a $125 annual golf cart parking permit through the Emerald Isle Police Department.

Permit Pickup
